Is there any way to adjust the play out in the steering rack? I have checked everything else and the steering play is in the rack.

No, if the pinion or the rack is worn you will need to have it rebuilt. I tried .003" shims under the cap opposite where the shaft enters but it caused binding. I have a zerk fitting in that cap and use grease in the rack instead of 90wt since the oil likes to leak into the boots. Delta should be able to supply a rebuilt unit. good luck, Kurt

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid that was the case. I have a spare rack that does not appear to have any play in it. Just didn't want to change them out.
