When i choke the car it starts great and when i back off the choke it idles nicely, however after driving it idles a bit faster - not out of control but noticebly louder. Any suggestions on a possible fix? thank you

Next time it is at high idle check your throttle linkage to see if is returning to the idle position or staying open a bit. It may be just one carb or both. Make sure both carbs work in unison. With Strombergs its hard to tell because of the vacuum slides blocking the view. If the carbs are ok you may have an advance spring in the distributor that is broken and not allowing the timing to retard at idle. Hold the brake and slip the clutch in first gear until the engine slows down to normal idle. If it stays slowed down its probably the advance unit tin the distributor. If not probably carb adjustment. Wouldnt hurt to check for vacuum leaks as well. Dan

Ms Jensen had the worst worn carbs in history, so vacuum leaks were abundant. Give the throttle axles a wiggle, there should be no radial movement of the axles. Spray a bit of aerosol engine starter (don't know any brand names nor the proper term for it in English, in Norway it is known as "start gas") around the axles, if the engine picks up you have a vacuum leak. If you do - find a better set of carbs or go Dell'Orto. If you are really lucky, the throttle stop is just turned half a turn too far in, adjust it to give correct idle speed when the engine is properly warmed up. -- Joachim

Thanks. Exactly where do I find the linkage? And can it be lubricated? David. Rgs
