I did a search, but may not have used the right terms so please be kind..
Anyway, took the left front fender {in the USA} or wing if you will {in the UK} off to address a massive undercoating mess.  Glad I did as I found a plastic gasket between the wing and the sill that had been riveted to the sill.  Is this a correct part?  I looked at the diagrams and didn't see it.
Anybody use something specific at this junction?  I'm thinking about using some thin, very thin, butyl tape to act as a seal...seam sealer proper will harden too much and silicone sealers can contain acids that attach the paint and steel.
Thanks for opinions and input....progress is being made

The non corrosive gasket is there to keep the wing and rccker separate so that any moisture will drain off, having it sealed creates a rust prone area. Same as the rear wing dogleg.

The GTs and I would guess some of the '75s had that plastic piece, but the earlier cars did not(not sure what the VIN # that started on)
