What's the conventional wisdom on replacing the wiring harness?  And where to source it?

I've been under the dash a lot lately, and most of the wiring I'm seeing is after-market spliced-on junk.  So I'm wondering if anyone knows of folks who have a relatively accurate loom'd replacement, and/or comments on their experience with replacing wiring.

I'd like to replace what's there with modern insulated stock, but would like to match the original color-coding as accurately as possible.  But if there are accurate repro-harnesses, I'd be happy to consider working with that.

Comments?  Hilarious laughter?

I recently parted-out a few cars and have complete used looms.

Other than that, you can completely replace your harness with a custom one like I did.

How did you source your custom harness?  Did someone make it for you or did you do the work yourself?

These folks are great and you can't beat the price - $120 for a 12 circuit, all wires are labeled the entire length.

You could also replace it with an OEM harness. There is this British Wiring company in the UK that makes them for our JH! I believe Greg Fletcher sources several items from them.

Go to:

Good luck

Hey, thanks for the britishwiring link.  For some reason I had overlooked them.

That's gonna fix me up just fine.  Now I can replace my broken fuse box!  woohoo!
