After acquiring myself a new JH after many years of being without one, I am slowly remembering where many items are located. The trip odometer reset is not one of them. There is a conspicuous hole next to the light rocker switch where I recall the panel dim rheostat belonging, but I find no location for the reset on the odometer. Joey

The reset for the trip odometer is located under the steering column in a hole in the rubber steering cowl.

Jim, No hole. I did the lay on the floor bit even looking up and I can find nothing. This may be a non-factory cowl piece. Looks like I may just pull it this weekend and see where to put a hole if nothing else. Joey

When I started the restoration of 15851 the trip meter had gone AWOL! I ordered a new one from Delta, only to find at final assembly that it was about 1" too short! The cable will just reach but it's so taught you can't turn the thimble to reset the trip meter. According to Delta I was the second person to make mention of this. So I tried a used one, which was the same length, and also too short! The distance from the Speedo to the lower steering cowl is fixed so I didn't do anything wrong, or did I? Maybe I should turn the speedo through 180 deg!!!! Measuring from the flange of the cable that butts up to the back of the speedo, to the flange that butts up to the back face of the cowl my trip meter reset cables are both 8". The (broken) one that came with my car is either original or a very old replacement and is just long enough at 9" flange to flange. Attached is a photo of this part. An 8" cable would be too short. Attachment: speedo reset cable.jpg (Downloaded 47 times)
