Can anyone give some background information as to why my tachometer has an orange range from 5500 to 6300 RPM and a red range from 6300 to 7000 RPM? (7000 RPM maximum reading) I have noticed that photos of JH tachs as seen on the Jensen Healey website opening page and one I saw on eBay have a red range from 7000 to 8000 RPM. Is mine an eriler version? My car manufacture date is 6-4-1974. I'm not sure if that's June 4th ot 6th of April. Any Information? Thanks Attachment: DSCF2552c.JPG (Downloaded 29 times)

You have the wrong tach in your car, just as I do. It's probably from an MGB. JH tach's show up all the time on e-bay; I've bought one, just haven't installed it yet.

Well that's interesting. I just looked up "MGB tachometer" on the internet. I saw some that look a lot like mine, with the orange range. It's interesting that mine has the orange area from 5500 to 6300 RPM and the ones I just saw have the orange area from 5500 to 6000 RPM. Just an observation. Thanks for the information. I'm assuming that my tach (being for a four cylinder) would be fairly accurate. I register about 3000 RPM at 55-60 MPH. Thanks again. Last edited on 09-16-2005 02:51 pm by Jay |
