Can anyone tell me how many turns per minute equates to on the dial. Such as 1000 Turns per minute equals 60 Miles Per Hour....or what.
I am considering replacing the Smith's speedo with another make and need to know what equals what..
Thanks
Frank

Fuzzy thinking on my part...that should be Turns per Mile... So how many turns per mile does a Smiths JH speedo turn...or whatever it might be ???

There is a number on the front face of the speedo, it will say how many turns in a given distance. I think it is usually in turns/km, but I may be wrong. Common numbers on European cars are 500 and 1000.

I have been reading the posts regarding speedometer issues and I have found several solutions, albeit a bit expensive.  Speedway Motors, the catalog speed shop in Nebraska, lists several speedometer types that sense an electronic signal or GPS.  They are supposed to be easy to calibrate and of course make life more fun for their main customer group, hot rodders that have mismatched transmissions and rear ends.  How difficult it would be to install one of their units in a Smiths case is a matter for additional consideration.  As always, cheers!

You could buy a new Smiths digital speedo and just install it?
