Any of you fine people know how to remove the choke knob from the JH front panel? I'm trying to remove the panel and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get that knob off! Any clues gratefully received! Cheers, Paul

Had this same problem recently. You have to unbolt the cable from up front at the carbs and pull it thru. I guess some people replace the mounting so it is off to the side of the panel, but I reallyy didn't have any trouble pulling mine and then rethreading it. Ended up doing it a few times. Mine is a solid wire rather than braided (not sure if it is stock), which would,I am sure, make the rethreading much more difficult.

There's a trick which is often of use. Before pulling the cable through the firewall, tie a 6-foot-long string to the engine end of the cable. Untie this string after the cable is through the firewall and before removing the cable and heater console from the car. When reinstalling things, re-tie the string to the cable, and use the string to pull the cable into the engine bay.
