I got my new alternator, and it seems that the rattling on the old one was the result of the fan spinning freely, since the key on the shaft did not engage it. When transferring the pulley and fan to the new one, I noticed the same thing. Is there some spacer or something that I am missing? I now have everything apart, so it is a bit of an emergency.

Thanks.

Is it a Delco Remy or Lucas ? The Delco Remy has a spacer between the pully and the fan blade. Spacer is just over 7/16 wide. Picture attached. Not sure what the Lucas unit has. Gary
