According to the research I've done on the web the 1969-1976 Triumph TR-6 master cylinder is a bolt on replacement for the original Jensen Healey unit. Looking at RockAuto,com they have three different brands available with the prices ranging from $114 to $270 USD. What I'm wanting to find out is if anyone has tried the various brands and did they have any reliability issues with them. I'd rather do this job once, instead of dealing with shipping back defective parts.

Uro/APA $114 This is the Chinese manufactured MC. I'm a bit leery of using this one given the reputation of chinese metal castings. I know a few years back Speedway had a big problem with their street rod dropped axles that came from China, they were shattering under normal usage and the problem was traced back to nitrogen embrittlement of the castings.

A-1 Cardone Remanufactured $140 I've had good luck with A-1 Cardone on domestic cars, never had a bad one out of the box.

Beck/Arnley $270 Never used this brand before, is there something about the Beck/Arnley MC that makes it worth the extra $130 over the A-1 Cardone price?

I had a similar dilemma, with Land Rover parts also mentioned... They fit but the bore sizes aren't necessarily the same. I eventually found a local company to rebuild the original by re-sleeving in stainless steel.

Apart from no worries with casting quality, it was also significantly cheaper - 75 of our dollars - and they were a great bunch to boot!

The Land Rover SWB pre 1980 with 3/4" bore is the proper MC and seems to be a perfect match for the original JH unit. Here is a link to a discussion over at the JOC:

Of course this may be a cheap replica of a functioning MC, but you can see the reservoir looks correct. This listing doesn't specify a 3/4" bore. Buyer beware!

Okay I did a comparison and going by the reservoir shape it looks like mine was already swapped at some point with a TR-6 master cylinder. Since it worked before I guess that's the model I'll stick with. I checked in with a few shops that do their own rebuilding in house and a non-sleeved rebuild will cost more than the Cardone rebuilt unit even with me keeping the old core.

Now my plan is to go with the rebuilt, have the old one get a stainless sleeve rebuild, and the extra master cylinder gets parked on the shelf "just in case".
