I'm reposting this thread from the VIN Database... I recently replaced the flex lines with a set from Delta. They are the exact same length as what was on the car. But, when the wheel is turned hard to one side or the other the brake lines get pulled very tight. I've been tempted to put a longer hose on there. Here’s the left wheel straight: And here it is turned hard left: Anyone have an idea if this is normal? I've never really paid attention to this on other cars. Seems like an extra inch would go a long way to extending the life of this hose. Mason |

Mason I just installed 2 new flex lines from Delta myself .While talking with Jeff ,he mentioned they were out of stock of the original 15 inch lines but that he could send me some 17 inch lines instead ,to which I heartily agreed . How long are the lines you have installed ? |

I measured the old one (which was the same length as the new ones) and it's 16" tip to tip. |

I have the brake lines as Jensen part no. 91635, Supplier part no.64047360. Suggest anyone wanting to add these, get them custom made with strain relief to 17" or even 17.25".....if you want to avoid sudden brake failure. |

All this talk of lenght got me thinking so I went out to the garage and measured 3 new ones I have on the shelf that Delta sent me last year and they measure 17.25 tip to tip. I have another set on my other car not sure of the lenght but I also noted they do get a bit tight in a full lock turn but so far have not failed me. Brett |

The original brake lines from the factory will seem tight at a full lock, it looks ugly, but it's functional I suppose. Your steering system won't turn quite that tight on the road. However, I've noticed that there are some cheapo, rubber, generic Chinese made brake lines floating around out there which are too short and could theoretically wear out prematurely. I would avoid those. The stainless steel lines for sale in the club store are made longer that the original factory lines to alleviate this problem. |
