Some time back I posted a complaint abt 13753 being hard to start. Once started, it ran great. Turns out to be a very simple problem with an easy fix and I'll bet other cars suffer from the same malady. Something has come adrift either in the ign switch or the wiring and the coil was never seeing 12V on start. The ballast resistor was in the circuit all the time. A jumper from batt pos to coil pos with a pushbutton will vanquish this demon. Starting now becomes a two handed procedure but I think with practice I can master it. Tom 13753 |

Normally that function is handled by a set of contacts within the starter solenoid. There should be a white-yellow wire from the solenoid that runs to (a) one end of the ballast and (b) to the [+] terminal on the coil. The solenoid's function here can be tested by unplugging the wire from the ballast and seeing if +12 volts appears on the wire end during cranking.
