Can anyone point me in the right direction here. I put a pertronics ignitor on my 74 Mk. 1 this afternoon, after installation I connected the red and black wire in accordance to the supplied instructions, after a few cranks something made a pop sound. After trying a few things I found that there is a hole in the back of my pertronics ignitor which blew out along with the pertronics sticker. Can anyone explain to me how this happens..? Is there any possibility that I recover my $80 or get a new one? (anyone had experience with pertronics cust. service?)

Brett, I think I may have found the answer to my question..it was a factory defect, both of the wires from the unit had been run across something and were exposed, and the company from which I ordered it from is sending me a new one.

Agreed, but i think this was a fluke. The wires could possibly have been on a spool of wire which was dropped or somehow damaged before it was even packaged. I hope yours is flawless. Also, for anyone else thinking of doing this, might I suggest that you first get it running with the points set thus ergoing the possibility of actually blowing up the more expensive unit, even if they replace it for free, you will most likely have to cover return shipping and you'll have to wait for the replacement.
