On this board at the pace it moves this isn't a very old thread just kinda old. It's one of those frustrating threads that abruptly end mid thread with no resolution. Did Joe solve his problems, does he even still have the car?
Like you I'd be reluctant to alter these emissions carbs to increase performance. I find when you solve one problem it usually creates another one. While some people love them and some absolutely hate them the 175 CDs provide a pretty good balance between emissions and performance while maintaining very good driveability. If it's performance you're after Dellortos are the way to go.
