If the charcoal particles were removed from the canister (cracked case) would keeping the vent line from the fuel tank and then from the canister to carbs. create any safety issues From unfiltered fumes to the carbs.? Had to ask, fire bad.
The purpose of the carbon is to absorb fuel vapors from a parked car and burn them when the engine is running again. The bottom of the canister is open to the air.
I don’t think it would be a safety hazard but rebuilding is simple until a replacement can be found. A bit of duct tape, aquarium activated charcoal, and a coffee filter should do the job.
