I just got my J-H runing and now I need to carbs tuned. I guess I have to find someone who knows what theyre doing..no big deal...but some guys around the shop here have been telling me I need to have them rebuilt and some saying I don't. Those who say it does need to be rebuilt say this because it sat for 7 years. Now, the carbs were new and have never been used after installation (as in they were installed but the car was never ran after). What are your feelings? Besides them not being in unison, they seem to work fine. Can I run some sort of fuel line cleaner through them? |

Rebuilding carburettors is a dark hole of despair for the uninitiated. I'd strongly recommend trying/tuning them before you yank them for rebuild. |

There is the question of fire hazard to consider, too. If they never were filled with fuel, I'd say don't touch them, but I'm not so sure if they have been exposed to fuel. If they start leaking engine fire is almost guaranteed, as the fuel will leak down on the distributor. -- Joachim |

I dont see a real reason to rebuild them if they were not exposed to gas, I would check though to see if all the fasteners were snug, like Joachim say's you dont want a gas leak. If you cant tune them in then's the time I would consider taking them apart to see just whats up. Good Luck Brett |
