Putting one of the JH's back together and thought of cleaning the heater core. Rather do it now and be sure then find something wrong and have to take it apart later. I have already run water through it. Was thinking of soaking it in something to give it an overall clean. Or should I just take it to a radiator shop and have them test and clean it? Thanks.

Radiator shop most definitely. Hot tank and pressure test. $20-$30 well spent.
