Does anyone know if there is a speedi-sleeve is available for the front end on the crankshaft, that the oil seal for the front cover runs on/seals? Mine is badly pitted and is leaking oil as a result. Jim at Delta does not know of one, but is looking into it.

Thanks, Colin

Colin,

I find it's good practice just to run some 220 grit followed by 400 grit, etc. every time I have to do this kind of thing.  The front seal isn't under pressure (unless the crankcase isn't venting) and the seal tends to be very forgiving (again, unless the sump isn't over-filled).  Keep in mind you can move the seal fwd/back a little and get to a better spot on the crank.

To do a sleeve right it's really necessary to concentrically grind the crank, press on a sleeve and re-grind to final specs.  Not really practical, but a popular band-aid solution.
