When I removed the engine from the car there was one shim (1/8") but I'm unsure which side it came from. General question is, what is the purpose of these shims? Does the engine need to sit at a particular angle or is it more likely that it was in place to provide clearance for the exhaust header? Thanks for any experienced answers on this. Corey

The aluminum shims that are SOMETIMES used are on the driver's/left side engine mount, so the steering shaft is not hitting the exhaust header.
