can anyone tell me the minimum depth of the cam sprockets teeth before it is considered rubbish?? Currently they are at .068 Thanks ! Mark. |

I was told by an experienced JH mechanic that the most important cam gear to worry about is the intake gear because it had so few teeth (7?) engaging the belt. As to depth, his test was that if you could catch your fingernail on the ridge where the low part (where the belt runs) and the high part (where the belt does not run) it is time to replace. |

just checked the depth on a newer sprocket and it was .090, so my older sprocket has significant wear .068, and will be a paper weight now. just trimmed my finger nails so I think the test you mentioned would be a bit questionable, got to love 'OLD SCHOOL" Thanks |
