I am replacing the cam belt on a MK1 and was all ready to fabricate a tool to loosen the belt tensioner, I placed 22mm socket on front and the tensioner loosened, I didn't notice the lock nut, took the belt off. Looks like PO may have switched out and replaced with the MK2 version. But now ready to reassemble and I will loosen the lock nut etc. and but back, but want to make sure that I have the new vs. MK1 tensioner, any pictures out there of a MK1 so I can compare?

Here is a pic of my Tensioner 1973 Made a cheap but effective tightening tool from a parts bin window regulator tool $5.00 just had to bend it ( easy as it was aluminum) and grind the gap to fit the nut. Your PO did good to upgrade the tensioner adjusting. Cheers Mark Attachment: 016.JPG (Downloaded 51 times)
