Are there any cars that have a similar muffler to the JH?

I am getting sick of the booming of the cheap "turbo" muffler that the P.O. put on the car. I've see mufflers listed by size and inlet/ outlet diameter, but I worry that they will be just as loud.

They probably will be. I've found the answer to that is not so much another rear muffler (although it may help), but to add a smaller, extra muffler just in front of the rear axle where the pipe goes up. It takes away all the annoying noise and leaves the underside free to not get smashed against speed bumps. Most mufflers shops will have something on hand that will work.

On my last JH I cut the pipe about where greg said and I put in a baffle and welded it back up. This helped a bunch. I was more interested in a quieter rumble and that is what I achieved.

Our local guru Bruce Madden has been using the muffler from the Nissan 240SX.  I personally found something on http://www.jegs.com that fits fine with a 30" glasspack mounted under the car.

Just wondering, I really like the sound of a wound up Lotus 907 engine, even at idle. I'm looking into puttlin' a through pipe from the front muffler to the rear without the second muffler.    Well when your half-deaf as I am, I guess you have to do what you have to do... eh, what did you say?   Loud, Well I hope so!

Now, if I could only stop it from blowing, no that should read BILLOWING smoke.
