THANKS TO MARK R. AND RON E., FOR THE QUICK RESPONSE, THOUGH THEY CONFIRMED MY FEAR OF BENT VALVES. THE SHOP MANUAL GIVES INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPAIR, AFTER THE ENGINE IS PULLED, THOUGH IT DOESN'T LOOK NECESSARY TO ME. YEA OR NAY? ALSO, IF ANYONES DONE VALVE REPLACEMENT, ANY GOOD ADVICE NOT FOUND IN THE "COOKBOOK"? MUCH GRATITUDE....... |

If you can undo the motor mounts and jack the motor you can pull the head. But, you must remove the blasted water pump to pull the head. And, if you are doing head work you'd be silly not to replace the $50 rings.................so, I think you'll find pulling the motor a 2 hour job and well worth it for ease of aggravation. I can get mine out in 30 mins - no kidding. R |
