Hi gang,

Chassis 11836 1974 MK II - Engine 9747.

PO could not get her to start so I bought her cheap and began self inflicted the torture.

I have been checking out all the pics and info I can find regarding timing setup. My question is about the gear on the intake right now. It is solid and the one on the dizzy drive has the cut outs and says LOTUS on the back.

Did the PO mix up the gears?

I've never seen a solid cam gear. Are there any markings on it?

I have seen solid gears. The one in your pic looks fine. I would go back to basics and line everything up at TDC, confirm fuel delivery, spark and timing.
