I've read all the posts I can find about the pressure relief valve and the I would like to pull mine and clean it. Lot's of good information here, but what I want to know is if you can (and how) remove the roll pin with the oil pump/distributor housing still bolted to the engine. I can see how you remove the distributor and can see the bottom of the pin. Has anyone done this, or is it just easier to remove the housing?

Tes--I have done it many times: Remove distributor; put old rag under opening to catch oil. Use small pin punch to push split roll pin into the distributor shaft opening. If aluminum spring holder doesn't pop right out, push in with finger or wooden drift a few times to loosen it. Remove this with spring and steel plunger. Shim back of spring(the old 6mm. washers that hold down the cam covers, etc., work fine) to 5-6mm **do NOT go over 6mm**. This will give the higher oil pressure needed for the high revs(rule of thumb: 10psi for each 1000rpm). Use MoS2 for reassembly and new "O" ring for aluminum holder.

I would be interested in this topic. A photo or two of location and detail would help. Thanks,
