I finally have my digital gauge package working and a small fuel supply issue ironed out so I have been driving my JH with the Toyota W58 around in North Scottsdale AZ to North Phoenix via the 101 freeway at highway cruising speeds. I have been able to consistently observe some very nice relaxed engine rpms at some elevated highway speeds in comparison to the stock JH four speed transmission. The 101 freeway here in north Phoenix and north Scottsdale is a gently rolling terrain. My car still has the stock 13inch original wheels with some no-name P185/70/R13 tires and the original 3.73 rear diff. With that setup I am seeing the following engine speeds verses highway speeds in fifth gear: 74 - 75 mph 3300RPM 78 - 79 mph 3400rpm 80 - 82 mph 3500rpm

The lower gear ratios seem to work just fine in this application. Here are the various gear ratios as a comparison: .................... 1st ....... 2nd ... 3rd .... 4th ..... 5th Toyota W58......3.285... 1.894.. 1.275.. 1.00 ... 0.783 Ford T9 .......... 3.36 .... 1.81 .. 1.26 ... 1.00 ... 0.80 Stock JH 4spd . .3.11 ... 1.99 ... 1.29 ... 1.00 Last edited on 04-26-2013 06:38 pm by StevenD57 |

I have digital gauges (tach, speedo, and some others) as a side effect of running the Megasquirt EFI & crank-fired ignition. There is an Android applet called Shadow Dash MS that runs on any Android phone or tablet. Shadow Dash MS pulls data from the Megasquirt ECU (and the internal GPS of the tablet or phone in the case of the speedometer gauge) to display on real time digital gauges. The Android tablet or phone has to support bluetooth as there is a serial to bluetooth adapter that plugs onto the DB9 port of the Megasquirt ECU. So I have a 10inch tablet mounted in my Jensen-Healey displaying the Shadow Dash MS output.
