What is everyone using for transmission lube? The service manual appears to recommend motor oil, which seems a bit strange to me. Thanks - Andrew

Andrew I'm using 90 W in the 5-speed and have been for years with no problems. Brett.

Andrew, It is not uncommon to have engine oil specified for manual transmissions. For the JH the 20-50 works well. I believe many have tried variations and if I recall correctly all have pretty much returned to the 20-50 to get the best shift feel. I am currently using 15W-50 synthetic in my transmissions. I like the shift feel and considering that lack of availability of gears, hope the synthetic will help the gears live a nice long life. Jim
