Prior to this I used Valvoline VR-1 20-50wt. http://www.jensenhealey.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=1530&forum_id=10 Lots of good info in this thread: http://www.jensenhealey.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=1148&forum_id=2 The Workshop manual says 5L in the engine. For the transmission I use 2L Valvoline VR-1.

I just replaced the rear tranny seal re-filled with synthetic Red Line MTL. I took her out for a 20 mile jaunt to see if there was a noticeable difference. It seems to shift a little smoother and has a little less gear whine while driving. Certainly no issues to report. To reduce the pain involved with refilling I drilled a 2" hole across from the fill plug. A metal plate now covers the hole and a finish plate is in the works to cover the hole in the carpet. Kurt

I used 75W-90 semi-synthetic GL4/5 oil from the closest auto supply to replace the oil in the gearbox. Immediately smoother, and almost all the gearbox whine gone. Filled as per workshop manual instructions. -- Joachim
