My car cranked 3 years ago. It has set idle for the last 3 years. After new fuel, oil and plugs I tried to start. I get no response from the starter. I checked for power and it is getting 12 volts. Any suggestions.

Try going directly from the battery to the solenoid to rule out any issues in the middle. If it's ok this way look for bad wires, corroded connections and the like. If you need to, pull the starter(it's quite easy) and take it down to the local shop and have it tested. You should also get the battery tested & charged first. Jody
