I have a 5 speed as well with no JH5. Vin is 19714 purchased in Oakland, Calif by me. I wonder if that was a regional thing, maybe east v west? Now a true 2.2. Also have original still running engine. Anybody know the last vin number made?

19343 is not a JH5. It's my understanding that some of the last units produced included both models with some VIN numbers out of sequence. The nameplate says model 111F?

Hi all, New member as of today! Western Australia 1974 JH Tangerine VIN 1141 16515 ENG# B74 04 7145 Must have been restored at some stage as it's in excellent condition however i don't have much history on it. Worked on this with my Father when i was a teenager, swapped out Strombergs with Dellorto 45's and did a lot of timing work on the cams. This is about all i can remember. Once parts arrive the start up after sitting for 7-10 years will begin.

Hello! New owner here of 1973 JH, VIN# 11144. It's black now, but I'd love to learn if it started that way. 8X,XXX miles... mechanically original and quite sound. I'm shocked at how well it drives as a former LOTUS, Alfa, BMW, Ginetta and current TR6 (heavily modified) and RHD MINI Cooper owner. Will post more info as I find it. new Timing Belt goes on tomorrow! Cheers, Aaron St. Paul, MN U.S.A.

JH 20451, fair/running condition, engine #B7407-8098, San Diego, CA. I have not been able to find much about its previous life. I bought the car with 62k miles and a Florida salvage title in San Diego. Curiously, the car has British plates - LDA 161P. It is "pink" (Tangerine?) with light grey interior/top, and green carpeting. I am assuming the interior matching roll bar and chrome luggage rack were factory options? The only immediate issues are a locked gas cap with no key, and inoperational emergency flasher/signals. Next will be rust repair and paint, and perhaps modifying the seat for more leg room. Not to mention California re-registration of a salvage titled car...

Aaron, +1 on the new belt. Who is putting it in? And I've been curious... who is the PO in Chicago? Regards, Tim Engel

Hey Tim - A buddy of mine owns a shop and helped me do it. Cam seals have been ordered so we'll be doing it again. I bought the car from a Dealer down there who had acquired it from a retired engineer who had owned and worked on it for a long time. The bonnet is off now - freshly stripped and getting re-painted next week. Cheers!

VIN: 11602 Good Running Condition, Came with 45 DCOE Weber's and European Specification intake manifold. They have been rejetted from what was OEM spec for an Alpha Romeo Spider Modifications: Pertronix Flame-Thrower Coil and Distributor Kit Swapped original Mk1 block for Mk2 (No more rope seal) Ringed pistons and replaced main bearings Conversion Components bell housing, CUBE short-throw shifter extension and 12 lb Aluminium flywheel. W-Series Toyota Celica 5 Speed Transmission with aluminum center section. Used OEM Celica cross member as it positions the gearbox and engine better in the frame and engine compartment. 15 x 6 VTO Wheels with 205/50-R15 Yokohama Advan Enovia tires, very sticky with 154 tread wear rating! Had Optima red top in trunk for awhile but now have Optima D51 yellow top on the floor butted against the transmission tunnel where the passenger side NAS does a nice little jog. It is the best place to put the battery in this car. Close to starter, shielded from the engines heat load and the batteries weight contribution optimizes polar and roll axis moments about the chassis of the car. I have had KYB's on for a couple of years as I could not find a good compromise with the Koni's rebound adjustment. The Koni rebound only adjustables that the car came with are being given another try and my handling with the rebound full on where the suspension packs down is quite eye opening. Planning on replacing original shock fluid with some Amsoil Medium #10 suspension fluid. Solid State SU fuel Pump after numerous other brands had failed to deliver the performance this pump provides. Rear disk brake conversion using Honda CRX calipers, disk rotors and parking brake cables with custom made adapter plates to fit. Early JH VIN 10626 Date of Manufacture 10/11/72 All original 22k miles. Just pulled out of a barn in Maryland after sitting there since 1979. Amazingly rust free with absolutely perfect floors, rockers, sills, etc. Not running but engine turns over smoothly. Full restoration to begin... Attachment: 1972 Jensen.JPG (Downloaded 265 times)

Hi all, Proud new (2nd!) owner of 18602 in San Diego, CA. 34,999 on the odometer, but it wasn't functional when I got it moving, so who knows at this point. Was well taken care of though, with good upgrades while still keeping it mostly stock. Manufactured on 10-30-1974 as yellow, was painted red, and I bought it in 10/2018 as a burnt orange. Hoping to be able to bring the red back without repainting just yet. She had been sitting in Arizona untouched for 13 years and was brought to SD to sell. A true barn find; all complete, but sputtering heavily. Drove it to the trailer and towed it from there... Currently up and running well after 3-4 months of solid part-time work on just about every mechanical system on the car. Only a few mistakes along the way, but the rewards are great! Now just need to get it running super well and work on the aesthetics so I can show her off. Shout out to all those who have contributed so much of their endless knowledge to the threads on this site. A priceless resource for a virgin car restorer. More to come. And Hope to see some of you at the SoCal monthly meetups. Patrick

In case it's not already in the data base. 1974 Jensen-Healey vin 19661, engine no. B74 12 10454(I believe original), spare engine no. B73 02 1796. Build date 12/30/74. Original color Black&Tan. Based on the info I have this car has never been off the road, it's never been brought back to life, it's never sat for years in a garage or backyard, it's been a driver since new. The odometer shows 20290mi, I doubt this car has only 20,000mi on it, more probably 120,000mi.
