1972 Jensen Healey in Richmond California - Originally Malaga Blue(?) Now battleship grey. Has a 2800cc Mercury Capri V6 under the hood. Sat for many years with this conversion ... Still ran when I bought it though so I fixed the brakes and am taking it out around the neighborhood and getting everything sorted. VIN# 10792 Update further along in this discussion. 1976 Jensen GT Pine Green - tan leather inside VIN#30324 Owned since 1979 2.2L 12.2 comp, polished rods, ported head & manifold, 45 dellortos, electric fan, oil stat, vented discs with ally 4 pots front, solid discs with 2 pots and cable handbrake. 15" wheels with Pirelli P7s 195x55 All running gear powder coated. Based in UK but spends a lot of time in France. Survived 2 divorces!!

Body # 17093 engine #067997, white with black/brown mixed interior. Barn find. Rebuilt rear slave brake cylinders, new master brake cylinder. Both carburator bottom plugs leaked, Delta helped. New battery and fired right up. Added aluminum radiator & 4 new tires and a freeway flyer she is. Salvage title at that. Tustin California. Going through the little things. JHPS member. I am 6'6" and your members blogs fixed that with their creative ideas on repossioning the phillips 5/16" bolts back & down. Some of my friends cannot reach the petals. Thank you for being here.

Mk1 #10658 Born on November 24th 1972, so it's now officially 40 years old. It returned to the road one year ago after a (embarrasingly) very long restoration. It has a later engine, running high compression forged pistons, 107 cams & dellorto 45's. The water pump has been replaced with an electric pump and it's running Lucas AB14 electronic ignition. The dash and console are from a GT - hard work to fit but looks great.

MK II VIN #15484 I need to check up on the engine number, but as far as I know, it's original to the car. White with black "Jensen Healey" stripe, black interior. Looks like all original equipment, excepting an Alpine stereo that's probably about as old as the car. Hasn't run following an electrical meltdown caused by an alternator short 25 years ago ... hopefully I can do something about that soon-ish. In Mahwah, NJ.

We've got a few to keep track of here and I don't have all the VINs and engines on me, but I'll post a few.... VIN 19468 black exterior, tan interior. Sold new in Waterloo and spent most of its life there. Right now it's being cleaned up and getting ready to be sold. VIN 13734. black exterior, black interior. It was converted to a Rover V8 sometime in the 2000s and we bought it out of Columbus, OH. Now it's in Iowa City getting fixed up to be a permanent part of our collection. I need to get the VINs of the others, but we have a red/black one that was a leftover of the dealership, so technically it's still new! We also have Lee Mueller's '74 National Championship car which we race a few times a year. It's been kept up by Huffaker Engineering, the original builder.

OK, I'll ask. Do we have a current estimate of survivorship? Are we still guessing at about 6% per the last entry on Richard Calver's site? Not that it's good to celebrate the demise of so many, but it's kind of cool to have someone ask and say "yeah, this is one of about 700 left in the world".

1974 MkII, VIN #19370, can be removed from the rolls. What's left of her is in my garage. Body shell only, engine and transmission moved on to another car. Once I remove the body parts I need, the rest is going to be parted out and or scrapped.

New Member here and just brought my 73 home. Picked it up in Austin, TX and brought it home to Midland, TX. Date of Manufacture; 26 - 1 - 73 VIN; 11204 Engine # B72121203 Black, great condition. 92K miles. I also picked up a spare engine off of a guy who had a Lotus Esprit with a 907 in it. He said it was an 80 model but the engine number looks suspicious? B74 11 10215?? I look forward to learning from this group how to strip it down to the nuts and bolts and put it back together like new. Welcome to the forum! The B74 engine number is indeed a 1974 build date. Your original engine may be early enough to have the rope seal on the crankshaft. Your car looks great! Kurt

Thanks Kurt, I do believe my original engine is the first generation. I first bought the second engine as a spare, but now am leaning towards rebuilding it as the main engine. The 73 does leak a lot of oil but runs fine. I'm interested in the crank fired ignition system and a lightened flywheel. I'm putting on the front and rear sway bars and looking at a set of Bilstein shocks. I'm not really looking for a hot rod, just a tight driver that is responsive.

Vin #: 11602 Purchased 07/23/2013 Engine # B73 02 1791 Year of Build: 07-03-1973 Location: Mission Viejo, CA Condition: Running on three cylinders but has weak looking spark on all plugs. Body is straight, except bonnet was folded over the windshield. All four cylinders have great compression at 110-120 psi. Oil cooler lines are twisted and have been sweating for a very long time which has preserved the entire right side of the engine bay and grill area. Was only making power on three cylinders until I figured out that number 4's weber had the screw that positions the venture/choke was MIA. This allows the venture to shift out of position in the carbs bore so as not to allow fuel to enter the throat of the venture. There were some "rocks" in the bottom of the float chamber too. Hey guys, I'm back in the JH fray, having just gotten 14473, a 74, from a gentleman near Cleveland. (I'm in Maryland.) The car is the stock dark red and needs some work, off the road for god knows how long and in many pieces. Someone was getting ready for paint. Oddly the floors, rockers, trunk are all solid, but the front fenders just behind the tires are shot. Not too sure why these have problems but not the rockers, although it looks mouse nests might have been involved. I'm going to get it started first to see what's what. Then worry about the body.
