I'm interested in finding Jensen Healey Mk II # 13921. My father was the original owner, and I learned to drive in this car. When it left our family in 1976 at 9,000+ miles it was mustard green with black interior and white Jensen Healey stripes, 4 speed small bumper, with factory hardtop, dealer fitted a/c, and oversize white letter Michelins. I know it was intact as of 2004. Curious to know how it is, and would be interested in reacquiring it. |

By the way, #13921 was known to be in California and in good original shape as of 2004. Keep a lookout for it, eh? |

Have you tried Richard Calver? He's put together the master database of which cars survive and where they are. http://www.richardcalver.com/survive.htm |

Yes; he was able to give the (then) owner's name and e-mail as if 2004. Unfortunately, the e-mail address does not seem to connect in 2014. I've been reluctant to use the 2004 owner's name on the forum; I'm not sure what the proper etiquette would be in this situation. |

Good question. I imagine you could privately run it by Greg Fletcher, who runs this site. If the owner's been a member here, he would be able to direct you. He'd probably remember the 2004 owner. |

Greg did indeed remember the 2004 buyer, who resold the car in 2006. I've sent that fellow a letter to see if he can recall to whom he sold it. |

The word is that 13921 was owned by Michael Mettler in California from 2004 to approximately 2006. I have not had any success contacting Mr. Mettler. Does anyone know where this car may have gone, or where it may be now? Even if I can't buy it back, I can at least provide the current owner with photos of the car from when it was new... |

srq2002, On every sportscar message board I've been on I've seen this, someone looking for a car they had previously owned. I have yet to see a post of someone who has found that car. Maybe you'll be the first. If I were looking for 13921, first I'd forget the DMV they won't give out any information on POs. If you have a friend who's with the PD they could run it and find the current owner, it's kind of a no-no but if you keep it on the QT there shouldn't be a problem. Short of that, go to Michael's house knock on the door and talk to him face to face. He either has the car or he's got a bill of sale with the next owner's info on it. If it's a bill of sale, repeat until you find it or exhaust your leads. Think of it as a noble quest. Or, you can just find a Jensen-Healey that looks like yours. |
