I have a question for those of you who have the 15x6 panasports and 205/50/15 tires: Do you think there is 3/4" of room on the inside of the tire on the back tires and on the inside of the front tires when turned lock to lock? Robert Last edited on 03-19-2009 08:38 am by roblanford |

Don't know about the lateral clearances, But I can tell you that if you re-drill them to 100mm they won't fit. The JH bolt pattern is 4x4". pc.

Nice wheels, but wouldn't they look a bit out of place on a JH? A bit of a clash with the early 70's styling? My inner eye sees a 90's car sitting on those wheels. Don't mistake me for an originality freak, I am nothing of the kind, but I just happen to think that Alleycat rims would suit the car a lot better. They could also improve brake cooling compared to the stock wheels, I think. Don't know if you can get them in 15" though, but I think 14" are at least available since I have seen Alleycats on a VW Caravelle (Vanagon for you folks across the pond). -- Joachim

Joachim, I certainly understand your vision of the JH styling. I stayed up late last night drawing tires and offsets and gave myself a tremendous headache. I think I will copy Jasper and be done with it. Nice work on your car and workshop by the way. Robert

Thanks! Just started on the car again yesterday, ordered some POR-15 and had some old bushings pressed out. I get that kind of thing done for free at a local car dealer after closing, since I play in a jazz band with one of their mechanics... :-) Wheel dimensioning can be a headache inducing activity. The wheels are Konig Rewinds 15x7x20mm. The tires are Toyo Proxis T1R 205/50/15. I had the wheel lug holes moved .030" to get the 4" pattern. It looks like everything clears. I still need to get some hub bore spacers made to mate the 73mm hub bore on the wheel to the JH flange. Last edited on 03-19-2009 09:33 am by roblanford |

And with good wheels you need good brakes, look at the hub it looks like it puts the wheel further out, the castor adjustment is better looking unit than on the JH, even the disc looks thicker than thr JH unit. Apparently, the radius rod is a 70's aftermarket upgrade. I don't know if the improvement is worth changing from a radius rod with fresh bushings, but it looks cool. I would be more interested in the brake upgrade and the LSD unit he had found... -- Joachim
