I have access to a bending brake to form new sheet metal floor and trunk pans, but what gauge metal should I use?  Some previous owner had gone crazy with a rivet gun installing pieces of sheet metal over the rusting originals.  What a mess!

TXJH,

I don't know what the stock thickness is, however, the SCCA madates a minimum of 0.060" for steel floorboards replacing non-metalic ones, and 0.080" for roll-cage mounting plates.  This should get you in the ball-park.

I could not find a good spot on the floor of 16971 to check but the driveshaft tunnel mikes .048 or 18 ga.  I like Judson's idea better though, I think the original is too light.   I believe that you will find that this is not press brake work as the originals appear to have been drawn.  I think I remember new pans offered in the UK but I don't know where.  Maybe another member can help.
