Easy question. How do you remove the plate on the steering wheel to access it's mounting? I need to replace the turn indicator. Thank you Clif |

Pry it out gently or you may crack the rubber around it, use a bit of silicone to help it along. |

Thanks. I got it out. I had done this before and there was already some tearing in the corner, and I have noticed this in other cars. Seems very few don't have the tears. I had to install a used turn/wiper unit and I am replacing the wood so both seemed a good thing to do. But does anybody have a line on that Lucas instrument dimmer? I think I broke mine trying to get the knob off. Not the knob, but pot. The post came out out at the last minute and i can hear some stuff rattling around inside. |

It's addressed in this thread: http://www.jensenhealey.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=1111&forum_id=11 Apparently one from a 70s Jag fits, works better, and is easier to find. Personally I just bypassed my dimmer since it didn't work right and it's not like the stock dash lights need dimming anyway. |

For prying the center plate out without damage i used trim remover tools. I worked my way around with tool 1 to loosen then with tool 1 still in place along the bottom long edge i put tool 4 in there and pulled it out with no damage to either part. The Badge is some 3-4mm thick and metal (like a belt buckle) so no chance of bending it. Also tool 4 is going to be handy for removing stubborn fuel/vacuum hoses.
