Hey y'all,

Does anybody know if the Delta roll bar will fit under the factory roadster hardtop?
I asked Delta, they said yes but did not sound very confident of their answer.
Thanks,
Robert

I have both a factory and an aftermarket hardtop, my Delta bar fits fine under both with about 1/2" to spare.

I am getting ready to install the Delta rollbar. Any suggestions or advice on what to look out for?

Thanks
Robert

Center the bar carefully. Look uner the parcel shelf and locate the triangular gussets. Try to miss them when drilling.

The rear mounts should be tight to the rear wall as possible.

Never use the roll bar when rolling the car, it's only good for one use. Try to flip in mid air and land on the wheels.

When drilling holes, watch CAREFULLY for brake and fuel lines! They run very close to where the left (drivers') rear mounting goes. I used a couple of pieces of 1x3 wood to hold the lines away from the underside of the car before drilling holes.

There is also a 'box' crossmember under the front of the 'deck' (parcel shelf), if you put the bar too far forward the front holes will be inside this box meaning you can't put nuts on them. Measure thrice, drill once!

Hey Kurt, great answer on flipping the car. Why waste a perfectly good roll bar. As always, thanks for the great and helpful information.

I'm going to send the roll bar back to delta.  I might as well spend the money on beer instead.

Your safety is important. Bolt that thing in there.

I know a guy who was in a massive crash in an MGB. He lost an eye but still enjoys life due to the roll bar. He said to get some padding because his head really hurt where it impacted the bar.

Where do you live Rob? I'll come over (with beer) and help you install it.

Kurt

Just joking about sending it back. After seeing several squashed windscreens the rollbar is mandatory. Thanks for the offer Kurt. I am in Anaheim, long way from you. I'll have it done tonight. Now if I could just find that stock aircleaner for the smog test.....
