I've seen two very different estimates of the JH's weight. One lists her at ~2100 lbs, while the other lists her at a more robust 2700 lbs. The tag on my driver's side door lists her at 2790 lbs "G.V.W.R." and also lists "G.A.W.R." at 1450 lbs. What do those stand for? Could they be listing her in Troy pounds? I'm just curious for the sake of comparing power to weight ratios with the new cars I read about in magazines. Edward

Ron Earp can comment on the corner weights of his ITS car, but in Solo I trim my car weighed in at Roebling Road ~2,150lbs. According to the JH shop manual, shipping weight is 2,036lbs, kerb 2,116lbs w/ chrome bumpers & 2,340lbs w/ 5mph bumpers. Someone else can help with the acutal acronyms, but my understanding is that the GVWR refers to the maximum weight of the car loaded up with passangers and their gear. ~650lbs would be about right for 2 adults and a full trunk. My understanding is this figure is more for tax purposes and DOT regulations than actual curb weight. The GAWR looks to be the total amount of passangers, their gear and maybe a small trailer. Someone please fill-in the blanks!

Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR): The GAWR is the maximum weight each axle is designed to carry safely. It includes the entire weight of the vehicle, occupants, cargo, trailer tongue weight and so forth, but now distributed between front and rear axles (taken from some site, forgot to look at which one before I closed it) Mitch Ware
