I am ready to install my tank after repair.  There is a black rubber tube that I had not noticed when I pulled the tank.  As you look at the tank, it is to the right.  I goes through the floor of the trunk, but does not connect to anything, top or bottom.  Can someone tell me what this is?

I believe this is the vent hose for the fuel tank overflow valve.  It goes through the trunk floor and then ends.  On my car it's plumbed rearward, horizontally, and held in place with a brass P-clip.  I don't suppose the end's position is important, provided vented fuel doesn't hit the rear end or suspension parts.

Thanks, Greg.  I think you're right.  I was looking at it again last night and that makes sense.
