Hi, After putting this off for a couple years I decided it would do more good to post this now rather than tweaking the file until it got lost somewhere. Two years ago I started a project in CorelDraw to simulate the paint colors for an upcoming repaint of my car. The project got a little bit out of hand and when I updated to the newest version of Corel the file messed up needing to be rebuilt. Well, I finally have most of the glitches out of it and I don't have the time to finish some of the weak areas, so I thought I'd post this now. The attached image is a 2D representation of the side profile of a Jensen Healey. The color of the car and the background can be modified to meet specific needs. I will attach 3 posts with different color cars. Maybe this will give me some motivation to finish the work both on the virtual car and on my neglected car in my garage. I was hoping to create a flash program to let everyone change the color of the car online by manipulating some color sliders, but I don't know if that is feasible. Let me know what you think. If you want a couple more colors posted let me know (a pantone number is helpful). Dan Sommerfeld Attachment: Jensen Side Profile V5.jpg (Downloaded 206 times) |

Pretty cool, Dan. Stupid question; is the green you show "British Racing Green"? I always thought BRG was a dark green, but I read something recently that led me to believe its a lighter shade of green. I'd like to see a dark green on your virtual car.... |

Green is tricky - At least in terms of titles. I've seen people use all different colors for "british racing" or even for "kelly". But here is a dark green Attachment: Jensen Side Profile V5 - Dark Green.jpg (Downloaded 188 times) |

frank12873 wrote: Pretty cool, Dan. BRG isn't actually a color. It's more of an idea. "Back in the day" before big buck sponsorship, race cars were painted in colors that identified them by country of origin, red for Italy, silver (or sometimes white) for Germany, blue for France, green for Great Britain, etc. They didn't have specific shades, you only needed to be able to identify the car with a quick glance as it roared past. Jaguar, Aston Martin, Lotus, MG, Austin Healey, Cooper, BRM, etc, etc all had green cars but they weren't all the same green. If you look at classic race cars in museums and in historic photos (which usually have questionable color accuracy) they do tend to be dark shades, often with somewhat olive tones. One can argue that there is no such color as "BRG" but I think that any green that was seen on a classic back then or looks like it "could have been" on a car in those days qualifies. While it certainly does not qualify as BRG one of our comrades painted his JH "John Deere Green" and I think it looks great. PC. (Hey Dan, how about Tangerine?! Just kidding!) |

Hi Dan, looks fantastic. If you have some time left then i would like to see the JH in Malaga Blue, but i understand it if not possible. Flash would be even more incredible to have but hey this already is awesome! Should post this on the JHPPG.com or so, for all who are in the rebuild process or repaint like you said. cheers, Erik |

Malaga Blue is tough, but I found an image with a Malaga Blue JH thanks to John and grabbed some color info off of it. Here it is with a light reflection... Dan Attachment: Jensen Side Profile V7 - Malaga.jpg (Downloaded 135 times) Last edited on 05-24-2006 09:15 pm by Dan Sommerfeld |

Speaking of which, IMHO, Mitch Ware did a fantastic job with BRG on his. All he needs is the "bulls-eye" on the side and a couple 50cals under the headlights!
