I'm sure they are now(fortunately, I got some 5000 & 6000lbs sets in the late '70s that were still made in the USA and 6 ton ones in the early '80s made in Taiwan). You can always drill a hole through maybe an inch apart to simulate those types for extra safety, OR: Here's a link to "double-lock sets--Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00026Z3DQ?creativeASIN=B00026Z3DQ&cv_ct_pg=article-page&cv_ct_wn=osp-single-source&linkCode=oas&ascsubtag=amzn1.osa.1a77d8b6-bee5-424c-9def-3579fb151a01.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&cv_ct_id=amzn1.osa.1a77d8b6-bee5-424c-9def-3579fb151a01.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&pd_rd_wg=QWKxO&pd_rd_w=PDEZ0&tag=spyonsite-20&qid=1590066653&cv_ct_cx=jack%20stands&pd_rd_r=c41d3e27-5077-4db9-bf9f-aaccf4477aff |

The Road & Track article states, "The defect is attributed to aging tooling at the factory that produced the jack stands". And it further notes that the recall covers stands produced as far back as 2012. Eight years, and they're just now noticing that the tooling is worn, or that the stands are defective? That says something about their Quality Control inspection standards, doesn't it? As long as the paint sticks, they must be good. Regards, Tim Engel |

Hey Tim--you're preaching to the choir! I'm sure we could both bore each other for hours about the "junk" we've gotten from the land of "flung-dung" |
