It could be simply part of that changeover, which Jensen picked up because they were using Vauxhall off the shelf parts.

I don't have an early vertical link to compare against, but right around that time Vauxhall made a bunch of changes to the Viva/Firenza including uprated motor and the like. It could be simply part of that changeover, which Jensen picked up because they were using Vauxhall off the shelf parts.
