I am workign with an older 73 JH and am trying to remove the timing belt tension adjuster with the roller pulley...obviously I am trying to get it off so I can put in new roller bearings.  This unit is adjusted from the back as compared to the later ones which adjust from the front...  I do have the factory tool to adjust this.  However, when sliding
the roller to the front, it hits the lip of the crankshaft pulley.  Even though the eccentric adjustment moves the roller up and down and to the side, no position I can try will give enough clearance to remove it.  My question: Must I remove the crankshaft pulley to remove this roller...or have I missed something??
