On later pondering I figured out that the engine expanded and coaused the belt to become tighter. ofcourse, one might say , doesn't the belt expand too??" it does but at a different rate than the engine. As ststed earlier check the belt when its cold then take your car for a drive and you will notice that both the timing belt and the alternator/water pump belt will be tighter. joseph mazurk Chicago, il
