This is already fused by the bottom fuse which has the purple wires("always HOT, but fused) coming out of it. This fuse is supposed to, and has for MANY others, blown when a short happens at the lighter.
If someone has rewired or incorrectly wired the cigarette lighter, then yes, a fuse inline for it is necessary, as the cigarette lighter was the most common cause for the bottom fuse to blow.

OK, I will plead a brain fart on this one.

In my Triumph TR8, the lighter is wired into a brown wire, straight from the battery. I can use the cigarette lighter with no key in the ignition. This has come in handy as it allowed me to connect the station memory of my radio to the lighter so that it retains the station presets at all times.

I just assumed that it would be identical in the JH, and after reading about the lighter shorting out to the drive line tunnel, I put in an extra fuse. I never consulted the schematic. My bad. =:-o
