Bruce,

This problem has come up before not just on this site, not just on other LBC sites but on numerous classic car sites. There was a time when parts were parts but no more the markets are flooded with cheap Asian parts the worst being Chinese.

Before I was aware of this I installed a set of wheel bearings on my '67 El Camino. They failed in 1,500mi. Yes that's fifteen HUNDRED miles! And yes they were Chinese bearings. Nowadays I'm careful when sourcing parts to make sure they are brand names. And of course the quality parts will be more expensive but it's a price I'm willing to pay.
