2021 update - Esprit2 Are you still out there??? Thank you for your directions on this old thread. I had pretty well the same issue as the author - Car fresh out of restoration, off the road 40 years, really green mechanic in way over my head. Car was 30+ degree BTDC , running with weak performance, noisy lifters, trying but not really making it. I twisted the dizzy 9 to 10 degree counterclockwise as you indicated and brought timing back to the sweet spot (yes, by accident) but OMG what a difference amazing power band, quiet and smooth. A shocking difference Thanks you so much.
