My 4-speed gearbox was rebuilt 30 years ago (but I've put less than 20,00 miles on it since then). When it was returned I was told it might buzz the gears going up into 2nd. I took it at face valve. But thirty years ago there was no internet and no message board to tap. It does buzz 2nd and 3rd on the upshifts, but only when cold. Not much when warmed up. Never on downshifts. I run Valvoline 20-50 racing oil in the box. Is this an early indication of bad things to come? Does this precede the "popping out of gear" I've read about? Is there clear root cause for this?
