I seem to be in the dark on an installation point. My friend's JH has been having a problem with inconsistent idle. We looked for air leakage. Found the intake manifold was missing both the studs on the underside...these are out of sight and you have to stand on your head to see them. There are two. and it appears that I cannot just put the manifold in place and bolt it up. I think I am going to have to blindly feel up under and put the nuts and washers on these two before I can completely put the manifold in place...in other words, these will have to go on first. I put the manifold in place and found the nuts would not go on the studs as there was no room...
Has anyone had any experience in this area and can they give me any suggestions to make this job easier?

I think because it was not completely bolted in , that it was sucking air from the bottom of the manifold..at least I hope that was the problem...
