The two bolts that hold the steering rack pass thru the front cross member from front to back. The nuts (9/16" IIR) can be accessed from under the car (easiest with car on a lift) on the rear side of the front cross member. I use a socket with a long extension. The bolt heads are circular with a flat side that is supposed to keep the bolt from spinning. When changing the steering shaft I just loosen the nuts to give enough freeplay of the rack to slip the shaft over the spline. Good luck, Jim
