I just removed the tank from 19753 and cleaned it to bare metal. The tank is pretty light when empty, so there's not a significant weight savings going to alloy.
I filled the pitted areas with JB Weld and covered the bottom with two layers of fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin to prevent further rusting.
The inside of the tank is pristine and there's a tag soldered on the side from LA Radiator Shop so this isn't the first time it's been repaired.
